About us....
We are Sarah Wade and Lloyd Evans, contemporary designers living and working
in the East of England.
Sarah
:
In 2004 I graduated from Northampton University with a degree
in graphic design (specialising in illustration). As a result of the degree
show I was offered a position as a creative designer at a stationery and publishing
company based near Milton Keynes. This offered the opportunity to learn the technical things about being a designer - the stuff they don't teach you at college -and also, to gain inspiration from some great colleagues along the way. After about a year, I left Milton Keynes and moved to Suffolk to start work at a greetings company designing gift-wrap and other gift packaging.
In 2006 I was able to work out in Venice, Italy as a surface pattern designer and illustrator. Since then I have worked part-time as an in-house illustrator,
as well as freelancing for various clients within the publishing, textiles and stationery industries.
I am always on the look out for new ideas ands trends, and im particularly interested in the work of Tove Jansson, Lydia Monks, Sarah Fanelli, Orla Kiely and Neisha Crosland.
Lloyd:
After completing a BTEC in Art & Design at Suffok College from 2000 - 2001 I studied Fine Art at Northampton
University, graduating in 2004. Continuing to devote as much time as possible
to painting I produced work at Stowmarket Artist Studios.
Having access to the studio enabled me to concentrate on large scale work.
Since then I have worked as an interior designer, leaving this position in
May 2006 to take up an artist residency in Venice. The experience provided
me
with new technical knowledge as well as giving me a wealth of inspiration.
I was also able to travel thoughout Italy and study many works in cities
such as Florence, Rome and Naples.
Since my return to the UK I have continued to exhibit throughout the East
Anglian region and in London.
